Working from her small garden workshop, ceramicist Katie Murton hand makes house numbers & name plaques using slabs of stoneware clay. If you’ve a keen eye, you’ll be able to spot many examples of Katie’s house numbers in her neighbourhood, as well as further afield, as she’s been making them for nearly 20 years! After an Art Foundation course at Kingston Poly, Katie graduated from Bristol Poly with a ceramics degree in the 90’s and has been making in clay ever since. Of course you don’t have to live in South Bristol to own one of these plaques, that’s just where they are made!
Clear signage in frost resistant stoneware clay to enhance your kerb appeal. ‘Slate-black’ glazed numbers are indented into the clay, to create a three dimensional surface. The raised background is the natural buff colour of the clay and contrasts with the black, so the numbers stand out.
If you would like to place an order for a number or name plaque or discuss a bespoke commission, then do get in touch! A ‘PDF’ can be emailed to you to approve the design and layout before making begins. Plaques can be designed to fit your requirements.
Have I got your number? The House Names and Numbers ‘Etsy’ shop is stocked with number plaques that are already made and are available now to post.
